Breast Cancer Awareness Weekend

The Breast Cancer Awareness event focuses on increasing knowledge among health professionals, patients and their families, and the general public about breast health, breast cancer treatment options and research.
The Educational Seminar hosts a number of world renowned local and national breast cancer specialists. The event is open to survivors, women and men at risk, health care providers and the general public.

Dr. Nathalie Johnson, M.D., FACS

Dr. Nathalie Johnson, MD, FACS

Dr. Nathalie Johnson, MD, FACS, is a prominent surgical oncologist and medical director of the Legacy Breast Health Centers in Portland, Oregon. A graduate of Howard University, Dr. Johnson attended medical school at Medical College of Virginia ( VCU) in Richmond, VA. She did her surgical residency at the University of Southern California. She has a passion for improving the care and outcomes of cancer patients as well as access to affordable, appropriate breast care. She is former ballet dancer, turned surgeon, turned breast cancer survivor. She states, "A gift that cancer has given me is to re-evaluate life balance," Johnson says. "I see now I have grown and become a better wife, a better person, and a better doctor. I wouldn't want to go through it again, but I've gotten many gifts from it."

Dr. Ruth O'Regan

Dr. Ruth O'Regan

Dr. Ruth O'Regan is the Division head of Hematology and Oncology in the Department of Medicine at the at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. O'Regan is an internationally recognized breast-cancer physician and researcher with particular expertise on breast cancers that are resistant to current therapies. A native of Dublin, Ireland, O'Regan previously was a professor of hematology and medical oncology at Emory University, where she held the Louisa and Rand Glenn Family Chair in Breast Cancer Research.

Dennis Holmes, MD FACS

Dennis R. Holmes, M.D., F.A.C.S. is an internationally renowned Breast Surgeon specializing in minimally-invasive breast cancer surgery, including oncoplastic surgery, hidden-scar nipple sparing mastectomy, intraoperative radiotherapy, cryoablation (cancer freezing), and lymph node-sparing surgery.

Dr. Holmes is a dedicated breast surgeon and cancer researcher currently serving as Interim Director of the Margie Petersen Breast Center at St. John’s Health Center. Formerly, Dr. Holmes held the positions of Chief Breast Surgeon and Medical Director of the Los Angeles Center for Women’s Health, and Chief Breast Cancer Surgeon, and Breast Cancer Research Committee Co-Chair at the University of Southern California Kenneth Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center.
